the Freddy Fuego Sextet burns its down at Bowery..

The Bowery Poetry Club, April 1st, last Friday night... WHY...? The Freddy Fuego Sextet of course. I'm stilling tapping my feet to the soulful grooves. Some people know how to move a crowd, and this band NEVER disappoints. If you don't know the Freddy Fuego Sextet, do YOURSELF a favor, and see a show soon.. This band is a real delight to see (and hear), time after time. I really never get tired of their seamless blend, of funk, jazz, hip hop, and ska flows. The music is SO organic... By the time a jazz solo kicks in, you almost forget that you were initially bopping your head to a reggae rhythm, a couple of minutes before. Very few bands do this as well as these guys. Freddy Fuego and his band of gypsies entrance the crowd with their almost tangible rhythms, and palette-able grooves.. I mean, you can Taste the Funk..

The mastermind himself... Senor Freddy Fuego.. putting in a little work on the flute.. (this picture composition is awesome... yea.. i took the picture.. wanna hire me for YOUR next show?... you cant afford me.. lol.. kidding)

[left to right] John B. (from 'the Brighton Beat'), Freddy Fuego, Compton Robinson, Robert Keith

The unnamed guitarist.. He's badass though, be assured..

The man with the undeniable stage presence, Mr. Robert Keith... yes that is a beer bottle.. :)

With Compton Robinson on drums, Justin Williams on bass, Robert Keith on guitar, Sam Yulsman on keys, Freddy Fuego on horns, this band has a line-up of hungry and courageous young artists, all eager to make their mark on the music industry.. I also must give credit to John B. (from 'the Brighton Beat') who added some extra flare on the saxophone..
Notice that's only six people, and a septet however, is seven. I didn't get the other guitar's name, because I'm so much of a professional... sadface.. I did however get video.. I'll let that speak for itself...   Enjoy...

Cool article! I love this band... can't wait for their first album coming out this summer!!

Quick note: the myspace link at the bottom should go to myspace.com/freddyfuego not freddyfuego1... there is some latin artist out there who goes by the same name. Boo!
